This Powerful Root is One of the Most Potent Foods Known to Man

8554525_sIt is well known and well documented that plant based nutrition is on par, if not superior to, drugs created by mankind. But even amongst the natural, alternative remedies in the world there are a few stellar “superstars.”

One such superstar is Turmeric root.

Turmeric is actually a popular spice used in curries across Asia. Responsible for the distinct yellow/orange color, turmeric’s deep yellow oxide hue is an indication of the powerful nutritional properties contained within.

So what’s so special about Turmeric root?

Turmeric contains Curcumin, which is one of the most potent anti-inflammatory agents known to man, natural or not.

As chronic inflammation is known to cause many of the chronic, degenerative diseases seen in the western world, any amount of natural anti-inflammatory agents added into your diet are going to be wonderful at helping to prevent the eventual onset of diseases.

By adding curcumin into your diet you can safely fend off disease such as cardiovascular disease, arthritis, cancer, metabolic syndrome, and a host of other conditions.

The way in which Curcumin works are several fold:

1. Curcumin fights inflammation by blocking NF-kB.

This molecule is known to travel inside of cell nuclei and then “switch on” the genes related to inflammation. Many experts agree that NF-kB plays a major role in chronic diseases.

2. Curcumin acts as a powerful anti-oxidant.

As oxidative damage is known to be one of the primary mechanisms for creating disease such as cancer, etc. anything you can add into your diet that helps to fight the occurrence of free radical formation (which occurs during oxidization) is going to be to the benefit of your health.

Curcumin’s chemical composition allows it to neutralize free radicals as they move through the body.

Additionally, the substrate of curcumin’s chemical make-up also allows it to fight synergistically with the body’s own antioxidant enzymes as well, essentially helping to boost your body’s free radical fighting power.

Very few substances in the natural world work so harmoniously with the body as curcumin does.

3. Curcumin works to boost the brain’s performance ability.

Curcumin has been observed in some studies to increase one of the brain’s essential growth hormones. Working in the brain to boost Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), Curcumin can actually help to improve function inside of the brain.

The exact mechanism by which this happens is still unknown. But the conclusion researchers are making is that with curcumin at work in the brain, brain diseases and age-related decreases in brain function can be reversed.

Though scientists have yet to decide exactly how this looks inside of the human brain, it is reasonable to assume that as curcumin works to enhance BDNF, it might help you become smarter and improve your memory.

And these are just a handful of benefits provided by curcumin.

Now one thing you should know is that while curcumin is found in Turmeric root, on average, turmeric root is only 3% curcumin by weight. This means that you should seek to supplement your curcumin intake with supplements, which are easy to find and affordable.

Keep this in mind too…

When taking curcumin, it’s also important to take it with a substance known as piperine.

Piperine is found in foods like black pepper, and can also be found in supplements. Studies have showed piperine can increase the absorbption of curcumin by as much as 2000%.

Why to STOP eating whole wheat bread, vegetable oils & these cereals (plus the “side dish” that causes heart attacks)
