The Safest – and Most Dangerous – Cell Phones

Mobile phones are now part of our daily lives. It is difficult to imagine functioning in society, at work or in our personal lives, without one. For years, you’ve been hearing that cell phones may be dangerous. Is it true?

The Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel published the results of their research with cell phones in the Biomedical Journal. They concluded there is cause for concern. Some cell phones and mobile devices may be emitting dangerous levels of electromagnetic radiation. In fact, the research showed that a single use of some cell phones, for a period of only 15 minutes, can trigger changes in brain cells, associated with cancerous cell division.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandates that cell phones must be tested to determine their specific absorption rate (SAR). The SAR is the rate at which radiation from a phone is absorbed into your body. The maximum allowable level allowed by the FCC is 1.6 watts/kg of flesh.

Here are lists of the top 20 cell phones that emit highest radiation, and the 20 that emit the least radiation, along with the carriers whose models were tested.
