Natural Remedy Conquers Nasal Congestion

There are few things more uncomfortable than a stopped-up nose. If your nose is running, and you’re having post-nasal drip, you may imagine that mucus is the culprit. However, nasal congestion is actually a blockage of the passages due to swelling of the membranes lining the nose, caused by inflamed blood vessels.

A stuffy nose is sometimes caused by a simple cold, or it could be a sign of a sinus infection. Often you have a cough or sore throat at the same time. Health experts recommend you begin treating the problem with a natural approach.

Natural Remedy for Nasal Congestion

½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon of powdered ginger
3 tablespoons of all natural organic honey
1/4 cup of lemon juice
1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar

1. Add the lemon juice to apple cider vinegar in a pot and bring it to a simmer.
2. Stir in raw organic honey, cayenne pepper and powdered ginger.
3. Store the mixture in a jar in a cool, dark place.

For adults, take 1-2 tablespoons daily as needed. Shake well before using.

This natural remedy works on several levels. It acts as an expectorant, loosening the mucus and making it easier to cough it up and expel it from your body.

Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin, which relieves the inflammation and swelling that crowds your nasal passages. Lemon juice relieves congestion, and improves the taste of the mixture.

If you have asthma, be sure to consult your physician before using this remedy.

This remedy may give you excellent relief, particularly if the problem is a simple cold. However, if your discomfort persists, check with a doctor.

If the person suffering from stuffy nose is an infant or small child, contact your pediatrician right away. Congestion in babies and children can cause difficulty feeding and other problems.
